Lock Out / Tag Out Standards and Legislation

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) each have a standard that outlines many guidelines and recommendations relating to The Control of Hazardous Energy.

Our LOTO Train-the-Trainer Certification Training has been carefully designed to meet and even exceed the training requirements outlined in each of these standards, including the CSA Z460: Control of Hazardous Energy Standards that is often cited in Canada.

Because employers are required to comply with these standards (OSHA and ANSI/ASME in the USA and CSA in Canada), training and certifications that have been aligned with them will be seen as more valuable than those that have not been.

Practical Training Component

Itโ€™s important to note that in order to completely satisfy the requirements of the standards, workplace and equipment-specific training must be completed by the employer. These workplace training components cannot be completed by any third-party provider, whether they offer online or live training. The reason for this is that each workplace is different and poses unique hazards and equipment-specific lockout procedures. An employer is best suited to train workers on these unique circumstances that exist within their workplace and their specific equipment.

General FAQ

We do not send certificates in the mail. After successfully completing an online course, learners are given instant access to certificates in PDF format. Certificates can be instantly viewed, downloaded, and printed as required.

Most of our online certification programs do not have a single long exam thatโ€™s required to be taken at the end of the course. Instead, there are shorter knowledge assessments (quizzes) positioned at the end of each module. These quizzes are required to be completed in order to progress through the course. Breaking up the assessments in this way is an improved approach over a single exam and improves the learner experience.

Some courses, however, do have a final exam. Learners have the ability to retake exams at no additional cost.

Our course content is structured and delivered so well that itโ€™s unlikely that youโ€™ll fail any of the module quizzes. However, if for some reason you do, thereโ€™s no need to worry. Youโ€™ll have the ability to retake the quiz until you achieve a passing grade. We highly recommend reviewing the module content again prior to starting a new quiz attempt.
